Job summary

SMTC Corporation is seeking a Production Operator I to perform entry-level manufacturing and assembly of electronic assemblies and finished products. You will prepare components, operate equipment, verify documentation, and maintain traceability while adhering to quality standards and production schedules.

Work closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Materials, and Production leadership to ensure safe, efficient operations in a high-rel electronics environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• IPC-A-610 Awareness certification preferred.
• Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret work instructions, BOMs, and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Perform entry-level manufacturing and assembly operations by following approved work instructions, routers, and drawings.
• Assemble electronic and mechanical components using hand tools, fixtures, and automated equipment.
• Prepare components and workstations to support scheduled production activities.
• Verify work orders, BOMs, drawings, and production documentation before starting work.
• Conduct basic visual inspections and report defects per procedures.
• Complete production documentation and manufacturing records accurately.
• Maintain product identification and WIP traceability throughout production.
• Keep a clean, safe, organized work area following 5S and ESD controls.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support schedules and customer requirements.
• Participate in cross-training and continuous improvement initiatives.
