Job summary

Sam Houston State University is seeking an Electrician I to perform entry-level maintenance on electrical equipment across campus and remote locations. The role requires basic electrical knowledge, the ability to read schematics, and adherence to safety and NEC standards.

With a focus on preventative maintenance and timely repairs, you will work under the supervision of senior staff, handle basic installation tasks, and support the university’s facilities management team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years of maintenance electrician experience or related field.
• License as apprentice electrician by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation or must obtain within one year from hire date.

Responsibilities

• Repairs, installs, replaces, cleans, inspects and maintains electrical systems.
• Tests circuits, motors, equipment, lights, outlets, switches, breakers and insulators.
• Reads blueprints/diagrams and follows NEC guidelines for 220V and lower.
• Assists with ordering materials and keeping CMMS work orders.
• Works at campus and remote locations as needed.
