University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking an entry-level Engineer to support Electric Distribution Systems (EDS). The role offers a 40-hour work week in North Carolina and a six-month or longer appointment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in the engineering discipline related to the area of assignment or equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Some positions may require licensure by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Responsibilities

• Work with other engineers to gain understanding of the UNC-Chapel Hill electric system.
• Potentially manage small special projects within the engineering group.
• Learn and perform protection calculations.
• Develop EDS switching procedures with GIS.
• Learn and use IBM Maximo work management system to manage projects, write work and produce sketches.
• Interact with Contractors and Designers used on the Electric Distribution System under management direction.
• Familiarize with SCADA system and its alarms, working with the Operations Engineer.
