Job summary

Salas O’Brien, an employee-owned engineering and professional services firm, seeks an Electrical Engineer to prepare simple electrical designs and calculations, following established engineering practices and procedures. You will work with mentors, perform field documentation, and support project delivery.

Required: Bachelor’s or Master’s in electrical or architectural engineering; FE preferred. Proficiency in Revit, Microsoft Office, and Visual Lighting Software; strong communication and

  • Passing Fundamentals of Engineering Exam preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Seeks code references and design direction from mentors.
  • Performs electrical engineering tasks on assigned projects, including power distribution, standby power, lighting design and control, power conditioning, telecom, security, nurse call.
  • Performs self QC and seeks peer review.
  • Meets with clients regarding electrical design and projects.
  • Performs field work to document existing conditions.

Job Summary

Responsibilities

Prepares simple and routine plans, designs, and calculations by following standard engineering practices and procedures.

  • Seeks code references and design direction from mentors.
  • Performs individual aspects of electrical engineering as it relates to individually assigned projects, including:
    • Power distribution both primary distribution and secondary distribution
    • Power generation including standby systems
    • Lighting design and control, including both interior and exterior lighting
    • Power conditioning and uninterruptible power supplies
    • Telecommunications
    • Security and surveillance
    • Nurse call
  • Performs self QC on work and plans for/seeks appropriate peer review of work.
  • Meets with Clients regarding electrical engineering design and projects.
  • Performs field work to document existing conditions.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Educational Background
    • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering or an Architectural Engineering Degree
  • Certifications/Registrations
    • Passing Fundamentals of Engineering Exam preferred
  • Other Skills / Abilities
    • Ability to work in Revit/Microsoft Office/Visual Lighting Software
    • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
    • Excellent customer service capabilities.
    • Ability to work more than 40 hours per week to meet project deadlines.
    • Ability to drive to project sites and perform customary field work.
    • Must have a valid driver’s license.
    • Able to work in the United States.
    • Responsible for understanding and embodying DWG’s Culture Statement.
    • Process correspondence efficiently, accurately and confidentially.
    • Work independently and in a team environment.
