Job summary

Salas O’Brien seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer to design building systems for institutional projects, leading a multi‑discipline team in Baton Rouge and surrounding markets. You will produce construction documents, perform design calculations, and drive QA/QC across complex healthcare, government and education facilities.

The role requires a PE license, 8+ years of relevant experience, and proficiency in REVIT and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years of design experience as a registered engineer.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required or in good standing.
• Experience with complex institutional projects.
• LEED experience desired; certification is a plus.
• Familiar with applicable codes, standards and design guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical systems including lighting, power, fire alarm, telecom and security.
• Develop calculations for lighting systems and controls.
• Develop electrical system design calculations and documentation.
• Prepare detailed design drawings in REVIT and related specs.
• Perform QA/QC design reviews and checks.

• Coordinate with Owners and Architects to align expectations.
• Coordinate work with other disciplines and teams.
• Conduct code compliance research and ensure standards.
• Oversee and mentor junior engineers on project work.
• Assist in business development and client relations for new work.

Job Summary

The Senior Electrical Engineer will work in a fast‑paced multi‑discipline team environment responsible for designing building systems and producing construction documentation for institutional projects in the higher education, government and healthcare markets. We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Electrical Engineer to be part of our firm.

In This Role, You Will

• Design electrical systems including lighting, power, fire alarm, telecom and security.
• Develop calculations for lighting systems and associated controls.
• Develop electrical system design calculations.
• Prepare detailed design documents in REVIT.
• Perform QA/QC design work.

Lead a project team and manage projects.

Coordinate with Owners and Architects.

Coordinate work with other disciplines.

Complete code compliance research.

Oversee and provide guidance to junior engineers.

Assist in the procurement of new work; including the development of client relations.

You Will Be a Great Fit If

• You have a minimum of 8 years design experience as registered engineer.
• You have a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• You possess a Professional Engineer license, PE.
• You have experience with complex institutional projects.
• You have LEED experience, certification is desired.
• You are familiar with codes, standards and design guidelines.

Skills / Abilities

• Excellent work ethic and attitude.
• Interpersonal communication skills, combined with organizational skills, the ability to plan, balance and prioritize work.
• Ability to lead a team as well as work as part of a team.
• Proficient in Revit and MS Office.
