TRS Staffing Solutions is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support industrial, refinery, and energy-related projects in the Billings, Montana area. This is an excellent opportunity for an early to mid-career engineer looking to expand their technical expertise while working alongside senior engineering professionals on a variety of electrical design and engineering projects. The selected candidate will contribute to both multi-discipline and single-discipline projects, supporting electrical design, analysis, construction packages, and project execution activities. The ideal candidate will have experience within refining, oil & gas, industrial manufacturing, or related industries and a desire to continue growing their engineering career in a collaborative team environment.
Develop electrical engineering deliverables including:
One-line diagrams
Wiring schematics
Electrical construction packages
Supporting design documentation
Assist with:
Load calculations
Voltage drop calculations
Cable sizing
Conduit sizing
Lighting design
Grounding design
Support the development of electrical equipment specifications and technical documentation.
Assist in assembling engineering and construction work packages for project execution.
Support scope development and engineering deliverables under the guidance of senior engineering staff.
Prepare material requisitions and assist with vendor bid evaluations.
Review vendor documentation and equipment submittals.
Participate in project meetings and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
Assist with project scheduling activities and technical planning efforts.
Work closely with engineers, designers, project managers, and vendors.
Coordinate electrical engineering deliverables with other disciplines.
Foster strong working relationships across project teams and stakeholders.
Participate in design reviews and technical discussions.
Promote a strong commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.
Deliver accurate, high-quality engineering work while meeting project schedules.
Support compliance with applicable electrical codes, standards, and site requirements.
1-5 years of Electrical Engineering experience.
Experience supporting refinery, oil & gas, industrial manufacturing, energy, or related facilities preferred.
Familiarity with:
NEC
NFPA
IEEE
API Standards
Hazardous area classifications
Experience developing:
One-line diagrams
Wiring schematics
Electrical calculations
Understanding of:
Power distribution systems
Lighting systems
Grounding systems
Low- and medium-voltage electrical systems
Microsoft Office Suite
AutoCAD
Navisworks
Bluebeam
Revit MEP
Power system analysis tools
Strong communication skills.
Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality.
Experience working in refinery, petrochemical, or heavy industrial environments.
Experience supporting field construction activities.
Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam completed or actively pursuing certification.
Experience with medium-voltage systems.
Exposure to electrical specifications and material requisitions.
Professional Engineer (PE) License a plus.
Primarily office-based in Billings, MT.
Flexible work schedule available.
Every other Friday off.
Periodic remote work available with supervisor approval.
Occasional travel to project sites and regional offices throughout the Western United States.
Field visits required to support engineering and client activities.
Ability to obtain and maintain a TWIC Card.
Ability to obtain required site safety training and certifications.
Successful completion of background screening.
Participation in federally mandated drug and alcohol testing programs.
Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
