Job summary

Kiewit is seeking an entry-level Commissioning Engineer within the Power district, to represent electrical commissioning from estimating through project startup. You will participate in project meetings, review electrical deliverables, and help draft commissioning procedures, while coordinating with CSU Technical Services SMEs as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3.0 cumulative GPA preferred.
• 0-2 years of experience as a commissioning engineer or related position preferably including: NETA, IEEE Testing standards.
• NFPA 70E and able to demonstrate safe electrical troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with Design Review for Power, Power Delivery, and Renewable Projects.
• Attend Factory Acceptance Tests for Electrical Equipment (MV, LV Switchgears, Transformers, Relay Panels, etc.).
• Develop Electrical Initial Energization Procedures (Switchyard, Back-feed, Switchgears, Initial Synch, etc.).
• Travel to project site for short duration as needed to carry out audit, review energization plan, and assist with major energization evolution if needed.
• Work with projects start-up team with onsite activities such as the following if needed.
• Familiarity with component testing and commissioning aspects of following major electrical equipment & protection scheme will be an added advantage: 220KV, 345KV Breakers; Generator Circuit Breakers; MV & LV Switchgears and MCCs; CTs, PTs, CVTs, and one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, control & protection schematics.
