Job summary

Mission Technologies, a division of HII, seeks an Applied Statistician to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. You will plan and implement statistical methods to analyze data and compare it against stated performance requirements.

The role emphasizes Bayesian inference, time-series analysis, and design of experiments, with responsibilities spanning test strategy, post-test analysis, and mentoring teammates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, statistics, applied math, operations research, or similar.
• 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors; 3 years relevant experience with Masters; 0 years experience with PhD; or 9 years with HS diploma.
• 3 years practical statistical experience in industry or academia.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance.
• United States citizenship required; cannot sponsor work visa.

Responsibilities

• Provide statistical expertise to acquisition programs and research projects.
• Lead development of test strategies, technical test designs, and post-test analysis.
• Apply rigorous design of experiments (DOE) in testing.
• Mentor program team members in statistical methods.
• Support studies on metrics for AI/ML, model validation, and cyber-physical systems testing.
• Communicate solutions to leadership orally and in writing.
• Author best practices and case studies for community use.
