Job summary

Northern Motors is seeking an Entry-Level Diesel Mechanic/Technician to inspect, maintain, and repair heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and equipment in Ashland, VA. You will help ensure safety and reliability across diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical and cooling systems.

This role emphasizes problem-solving, hands-on diagnostics, and adherence to safety standards while building skills in a supportive, team-oriented shop environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; trade school preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving mindset encouraged.
• Previous automotive or fleet maintenance experience preferred.
• State Inspector License is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and inspections.
• Perform medium/high duty vehicle alignments.
• Perform entry level repairs.
• Assist with diagnosing problems, replace or repair parts, test and adjust.
• Comply with safety regulations and keep work areas clean.
