Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) seeks a Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanic Trainee. Qualifications

• Two years as a Tradesman Helper in automotive field or
• Graduation from a post-high school diesel technology curriculum of an accredited trade or technical school or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Responsibilities

• Learn Repairs: Participate in repairing cars, trucks, and heavy equipment
• Support Diagnostics: Assist with identifying mechanical problems and needed repairs
• Perform Maintenance: Carry out preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment
• Complete Inspections: Help perform official safety and emissions inspections and related documentation
• Use Tools Safely: Learn proper techniques for using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
• Maintain Work Area: Keep assigned workspace clean and follow safety procedures
