The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Department of Transportation in Indiana County is seeking a Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanic Trainee. You will learn to service gasoline and diesel-powered equipment, performing hands-on maintenance and repairs under experienced mechanics.

Qualifications

Two years as a tradesman helper in automotive fields or a diesel tech program; or equivalent combination of experience and training.
Post-high school diesel technology curriculum completion or recognized equivalent.
Demonstrated ability to learn and apply maintenance and repair skills under supervision.

Responsibilities

Repair training: learn to repair/overhaul cars, trucks, and heavy equipment under supervision.
Maintenance: assist in preventative maintenance for equipment and vehicles.
Diagnostics: assist in diagnostics, tune-ups, tire changes, and component adjustments.
Inspection support: help complete state safety and emissions inspections and docs.
Problem identification: use tools to identify issues and aid in repair methods.
Safety: learn and follow safety procedures and hazard recognition.
