Entry-Level Diesel Generator Mechanic / Mechanical Technician
Pay: $18–$25/hour, based on experience

Position Overview
PRISMECS is hiring an Entry-Level Diesel Generator Mechanic / Mechanical Technician to support a 40MW temporary diesel power generation project in Odessa, TX.
This is a great opportunity for someone who has basic diesel, automotive, heavy-equipment, industrial maintenance, or mechanical experience and wants to develop hands-on experience in diesel power generation.
You do not need to be an experienced power plant technician, but you should have good mechanical aptitude, be comfortable working with tools, be dependable, and be willing to learn.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist experienced technicians with diesel generator maintenance and repairs.
- Perform basic inspections of generators and mechanical equipment.
- Assist with oil, filters, hoses, fluids, cooling systems, fuel systems, and other routine maintenance.
- Help identify leaks, unusual noises, vibration, overheating, or other equipment concerns.
- Assist with preventive maintenance and scheduled servicing.
- Prepare and organize tools, parts, and maintenance materials.
- Help maintain clean and safe generator and maintenance areas.
- Assist with equipment startup and shutdown activities as directed.
- Support Field Operators and Mechanical Technicians with general O&M activities.
- Complete basic inspection and maintenance documentation.
- Follow PPE, HSE, Lockout/Tagout, and all site safety procedures.
- Perform other plant-support duties as assigned.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Some hands-on experience with diesel engines, automotive repair, heavy equipment, generators, mechanical maintenance, or industrial equipment preferred.
- Trade school, technical training, mechanical coursework, or similar experience is a plus.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to use common hand tools.
- Willingness to learn diesel generators and power-generation equipment.
- Dependable and able to follow instructions.
- Strong safety awareness.
- Able to work outdoors in an industrial environment.
- Must currently live in the Odessa/Midland area or within reasonable commuting distance.
- Must be able to work on-site in Odessa, TX.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
