Diesel Generator Mechanic / Mechanical Technician – Power Generation

Job Summary

PRISMECS is hiring Local hands-on Diesel Generator Mechanic / Mechanical Technician to support the operations and maintenance of a 11MW temporary diesel power generation facility in Marshfield, MO.

This position is ideal for candidates with experience working on diesel engines, generator sets, industrial equipment, or power-generation equipment. We are open to different experience levels depending on the candidate’s hands-on mechanical background and technical ability.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on diesel generator sets and associated mechanical equipment.
  


• Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair diesel engine and generator-related mechanical issues.
  


• Work with fuel, cooling, lubrication, air intake, exhaust, starting, and auxiliary systems.
  


• Conduct routine equipment inspections and identify leaks, abnormal temperatures, vibration, noise, or other equipment concerns.
  


• Perform scheduled servicing, adjustments, component replacement, and general repairs.
  


• Support generator startup, shutdown, and operational-readiness activities.
  


• Respond to equipment breakdowns and assist with troubleshooting and restoration.
  


• Monitor equipment condition and report abnormal operating conditions.
  


• Support general plant operations and maintenance activities as needed.
  


• Maintain accurate inspection and maintenance records.
  


• Maintain tools, spare parts, consumables, and work areas.
  


• Follow HSE, PPE, Lockout/Tagout, permit-to-work, and site safety requirements.
  


• Work closely with Field Operators, Electrical/I&C personnel, and other members of the site O&M team.
  

Requirements

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with diesel engines, diesel generators, heavy equipment, industrial maintenance, or power generation.
  


• Diesel generator or power-generation experience strongly preferred.
  


• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  


• Experience with cooling, fuel, lubrication, intake, and exhaust systems preferred.
  


• Volvo diesel engine experience is a plus.
  


• Ability to safely use mechanical and hand tools.
  


• Understanding of industrial safety and LOTO procedures preferred.
  


• Ability to work outdoors and around operating power-generation equipment.
  


• Must be able to work on-site in Marshfield, MOand support project shift requirements.
  

Experience Level

We are considering both experienced technicians and developing mechanical candidates who have a solid diesel/mechanical background and are interested in expanding their experience in power generation.
