Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Medical Sonographer to perform general, vascular, and/or cardiac ultrasound procedures. You will review patient histories, orders, and lab results to ensure exam accuracy, position patients, select transducers, and optimize images while ensuring patient safety.

You will document imaging details in the radiology information system, ensure proper labeling, and communicate findings to physicians.

Qualifications

• Advanced training beyond high school in Sonography from an accredited program.
• No prior experience required.
• Certification expectations per ARDMS/ARRT are as specified by the department.

Responsibilities

• Operate general, vascular and/or cardiac ultrasound equipment.
• Review medical records and orders to ensure exam accuracy.
• Position patient and select proper transducer and technical factors.
• Use sonographic skills to identify and adapt procedures.
• Label images with patient name, MRU and location.
• Enter study information and billing codes into RIS.
• Identify equipment issues and evaluate new products.
• Analyze sonograms and communicate findings to physicians.
• Provide age-appropriate care and adhere to department policies.
