Job summary

The Alameda County Sheriff's Office seeks Deputy Sheriff Recruits for the POST-certified Basic Academy. Under close supervision, recruits receive intensive academic instruction in law enforcement with rigorous physical fitness training.

After successful completion, recruits are sworn as Peace Officers and promoted to Deputy Sheriff I; candidates must meet minimum qualifications including high school diploma or GED, valid CA driver's license, and US work authorization.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduation from high school or GED.
• License: Valid California State Driver's License by the time of appointment to Deputy Sheriff I.
• Age: Must be at least 21 years old.
• Citizenship: Authorized to work in the United States under federal law.

• Attend POST-certified Basic Academy under supervision.
• Upon completion, be sworn in as Deputy Sheriff I.
