Job summary

Choctaw Casino & Resort Durant is hiring an Entry Level Cook (Cook 1) across multiple dining venues. This full-time role pays $15/hr with varying schedules, including weekends and holidays.

As a Cook 1, you’ll support daily kitchen operations under the Sous Chef, prepare ingredients, cook using grill, fry, bake, steam, and ensure dishes are seasoned, plated, and safe.

Qualifications

• English speaking, reading and writing required.
• Food safety certification or ability to obtain.
• 6 months culinary experience or equivalent education/experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients (wash, chop, slice, peel, etc.).
• Cook food using grill, fry, bake, steam, braise, boil.
• Ensure proper seasoning, garnishing, and presentation.
• Follow standardized recipes and preparation methods.
• Maintain safe food storage, labeling and rotation.
• Keep a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Requirements

What You'll Do

As a Cook 1, you'll work under the direction of the Sous Chef to support daily kitchen operations while maintaining high standards for food quality, presentation, and safety.

• Prepare ingredients (wash, chop, slice, peel, etc.)
• Cook food using a variety of methods (grill, fry, bake, steam, braise, boil)
• Ensure food is properly seasoned, garnished, and visually appealing
• Follow standardized recipes and preparation methods
• Taste food prior to service to ensure quality
• Maintain proper food storage, labeling, and rotation
• Follow food safety and sanitation standards at all times
• Assist with kitchen setup, service, and cleanup
• Minimize waste through proper portioning and production levels
• Keep a clean, organized, and safe work environment
