Job summary

Consumers Energy is seeking an Associate System Operator to learn and operate the electric grid from the Jackson, MI, control room. The role includes training for HVD/LVD certification within the first year and ongoing, on-call duties in a rotating 24/7 schedule.

The position involves handling switching orders, coordinating with field resources, and ensuring reliability per ECCM and NERC standards. A strong emphasis on safety and teamwork per corporate policies is evident.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with zero or more years of relevant experience.
• Associate degree with two or more years of relevant experience.
• High School Diploma or GED with four or more years of relevant experience.
• Willingness to obtain Consumers Energy LVD or HVD Certification within the first 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Respond to outages and direct field resources to restore service per ECCM.
• Complete HVD/LVD certification training within 12 months.
• Administer outages and issue necessary work clearances and protections per ECCM.
• Utilize SCADA to monitor and control the electric system, including remote operation.
• Review switching orders for accuracy and compliance.
• Maintain a HVD or LVD certification and complete continuing training.
