Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Construction Specialist to join our team in the United States. This entry-to-mid level role offers exposure to field and site administration across project types with duties spanning document review, cost evaluation and scheduling.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management, is willing to travel up to 50%, and will collaborate with project teams, subcontractors and clients to ensure on-time, safe project completion.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related discipline.
• 0 years. Travel may be required.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Assist in reviewing documents, preparing deliverables and participating in pre-bid site visits.
• Determine total project costs by evaluating proposals and researching labor, material, and equipment costs.
• Develop preliminary schedule for engineering and construction.
• Develop General Conditions based on bidding requirements and site needs.
• Coordinate with project team, subcontractors, client, owners and others to ensure timely and safe completion.
• Ensure timely arrival and installation of materials and equipment with field personnel and vendors.
• Prepare and review submittals and RFIs; issue construction documents and layouts to field crews.
• Supervise basic to moderate project activities and interpret specifications for foremen and superintendents.
• Conduct inspections to maintain QC reporting at project sites.
• Evaluate safety performance metrics of subcontractors and vendors during procurement.
• Close-out project with PM; complete contract-deliverables and final inspections.
