Job summary

Turner Construction Company in Walnut Creek, CA seeks an entry-level Environmental Health and Safety professional to support enforcement of EH&S policies on construction projects. You will assist risk management, identify hazardous conditions, and help implement safety initiatives for on-site staff.

Responsibilities include reviewing subcontractor safety programs, coordinating drug screening, conducting worker orientations, and maintaining safety records.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 1 year of related construction safety experience.
• Knowledge of safety/environmental principles and techniques.
• Familiar with Federal, State, and Local Environmental Health & Safety regulations.
• Familiar with general construction operations.

Responsibilities

• Assist with providing training for safe work practices and EH&S programs.
• Review subcontractor safety programs for compliance with regulations.
• Assist with reviewing subcontractors training as per OSHA standards.
• Promote safe work practices and working conditions.
• Administer and coordinate drug screening program per project requirements.
• Coordinate preconstruction meetings with supervisor.
• Conduct effective worker orientation programs and record participation.
• Gather Pre-Task Plans (PTPs) and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs).
• Maintain safety records (PTPs, JHAs, training records, etc.).
• Conduct safety meetings and document minutes.
• Maintain log of toolbox safety meetings and report to supervisor.
• Conduct safety audits and issue corrective action reports to subcontractors.
• Identify and report safety violations with emphasis on imminent danger.
