Job summary

Higley Construction in Detroit seeks an entry-level Project Engineer to gain exposure to the complete spectrum of construction operations—from drawing interpretation and document control to safety, project controls, and estimating. You will collaborate with project teams, department leaders, and field personnel to support successful delivery.

While this role is entry-level, it offers growth toward a project leader path through hands-on training, mentorship, and participation in diverse project

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field.
• 1–2 years in engineering or construction management is a benefit.
• Engineering certifications such as an EIT are a plus.
• Co-op work rotations or similar experience.

Responsibilities

• Understands how to read construction drawings and documents.
• Manages project engineering duties including RFIs, submittals, drawing coordination, and project correspondence.
• Supports safety on the job site and field coordination.
• Assists PM with change management.
• Assists superintendent with field coordination and subcontractor management.
• Grows through problem solving and process improvement initiatives.
• Builds professional relationships with industry and community, including owners, architects, engineers, and contractors.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
