As an Entry-Level Construction Materials Engineering Technician in Asheville, you will primarily work outdoors, and your commitment will be rewarded with the fulfillment of witnessing projects come to life and the opportunity to earn industry certifications to enhance your career development.




What You'll Do:



  • Project and Document Review: Understand project requirements before fieldwork; accurately record observations and test results related to construction materials such as soil, concrete, asphalt, and other pertinent materials.

  • Metafield Utilization: Efficiently manage data using field and laboratory information systems.

  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensure field and lab tools are accurate and meet industry standards.

  • Inspection Monitoring: Follow International Building Code (IBC) standards for testing and inspecting construction materials.

  • Stakeholder Communication: Interact with management, contractors, and clients to report project progress and resolve any issues.




What We're Looking For:



  • A High School diploma/GED

  • 0-5+ years of experience in construction testing/inspections of soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt materials

  • One (1) or more active certifications, a plus:

    • American Concrete Institute (ACI): Field Testing Grade I; Strength Testing Technician; Laboratory Technician



  • Effective communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English language

  • Math skills with a basic understanding of weight, volume, pressure, and units of measure




What to Expect:


With the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).



  • Outdoor, hands-on work in all weather conditions

  • Walking over rough terrain and standing for long periods (up to 12 hours)

  • Lifting and carrying 40-50 lbs. of materials and equipment

  • Safely handling field tools and maneuvering equipment on active construction sites
