Job summary

JR Metal Works is seeking an Entry-Level CNC Machinist in Wisconsin to support the Heavy Fabrication Department. You will machine large welded assemblies and components on a large CNC boring bar, reading shop drawings and following established procedures with safety and quality in mind.

No prior boring bar experience is required; the company emphasizes hands-on training, safety, accuracy, and continuous improvement while enabling growth through skill development and cross-training across teams.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret shop drawings, blueprints, or technical documents.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn CNC machining and boring bar operations.
• Familiarity with measuring tools and safety requirements.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.

Responsibilities

• Operate and learn to operate a large CNC boring bar to machine heavy metal components and welded assemblies according to shop drawings and job specifications.
• Read and interpret shop drawings, blueprints, and work instructions to understand machining requirements and dimensional specifications.
• Prepare workpieces and assist with positioning, securing, and aligning large components for machining.
• Assist with material handling and rigging activities, following approved procedures and safety requirements.
• Monitor machining operations and identify potential quality issues, equipment concerns, or deviations from specifications.
• Use measuring tools and inspection methods to verify dimensions and ensure finished work meets quality requirements.
• Follow established setup procedures, machining instructions, and production processes to maintain consistent results.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following all applicable safety procedures.
• Collaborate with Heavy Fabrication team members, supervisors, and other departments to support production schedules and on-time delivery.
• Participate in training and cross-training opportunities to build machining knowledge, equipment proficiency, and manufacturing skills.
