Job summary

Commonwealth Engineers, Inc. seeks an entry-level civil or environmental engineer for our Fort Wayne, IN office. This role offers growth in potable water, wastewater, stormwater, dams, levees, site civil work, and sustainable infrastructure.

Responsibilities include performing standard engineering tasks under supervision, coordinating with contractors, reviewing drawings, and pursuing permits. A B.S. in Civil or Environmental Engineering with FE certification a plus, plus strong communication

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil or Environmental Engineering required; graduate degree is a plus.
• FE exam certification is a plus.
• Solid understanding of basic engineering principles and eagerness to learn new skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to apply technical skills to meet project demands and solve problems for clients.
• Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and sense of urgency to meet deadlines.
• Attention to detail and teamwork to maintain a positive work environment.
• Demonstrated drive to achieve goals.

Responsibilities

• Perform tasks requiring standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
• Work under supervision of a project manager or senior team member.
• Carry out sub-professional tasks: field work, inspections, reports, permits, construction engineering, simple design calculations.
• Coordinate with contractors.
• Review construction drawings and specifications.
• Contact government officials for permits.
