Job summary

Atwell, LLC is seeking a Civil Engineer I to support the Land Development team in designing residential, commercial, and mixed-use projects. You will prepare site plans, calculations, and permit applications while collaborating with clients, regulators, and project teams.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically proficient, and eager to apply fundamental civil engineering principles to real-world projects.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited program.
FE certification or successful completion of the FE Exam preferred.
0–3 years of experience supporting site development, land development, or civil infrastructure projects.
Internship or co-op experience in civil engineering or land development is a plus.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with project team members and clients on land development projects under the direction of senior staff.
Prepare preliminary and final site plans, engineering calculations, reports, permit applications, and supporting project documentation for review by senior staff.
Assist with due diligence efforts, including site analysis, zoning reviews, utility evaluations, engineer’s opinions of probable cost, and project scheduling.
Research and interpret local and state zoning ordinances, development regulations, and design standards.
Conduct site visits and field investigations as required.
Review survey data and existing site information, including legal descriptions, ALTA surveys, easement documents, and existing infrastructure conditions.
Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D and other engineering software to develop design plans and technical deliverables in accordance with company quality standards.
Respond to agency and client review comments by revising plans and supporting project resubmittals.
Assist senior staff with communication and coordination efforts involving clients, agencies, utility providers, and project stakeholders.
Manage assigned tasks and workload effectively while communicating project needs, priorities, and schedule impacts to Project Managers and Directors.
Apply sound engineering judgment and fundamental civil engineering principles to support project objectives.
