Job summary

Central Southern Construction Corp. is seeking an Entry Level Estimator to join our estimating team, working alongside our Chief Estimator on civil construction bids.

The Estimator will assist with the bidding and preconstruction process for civil projects, reviewing plans and specifications, assisting with quantity takeoffs and pricing, and contacting subcontractors and vendors to help generate competitive bids. No extensive estimating experience is required.

Qualifications

• Entry level candidates are encouraged to apply.
• Bachelor's or Associate degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred, but not required
• Strong communication and phone skills
• Comfortable making outbound calls to subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Basic Microsoft Office skills, including Excel and Outlook
• Ability to read construction plans and specifications is a plus, but training can be provided
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
• Willingness to learn civil construction estimating and bidding processes

Responsibilities

• Work directly with the Chief Estimator to assist with project bids and estimates
• Review construction plans, specifications, bid documents, and project requirements
• Assist with quantity takeoffs and material pricing
• Cold call subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to request pricing and generate interest in bidding projects
• Follow up with subcontractors and vendors regarding outstanding quotes
• Assist with identifying potential subcontractors and suppliers for upcoming projects
• Organize and compare subcontractor and supplier proposals
• Assist with preparing bid packages and maintaining estimating files
• Track bid invitations, deadlines, and required documentation
• Maintain and develop subcontractor and vendor contact lists
• Assist the estimating team with additional preconstruction and administrative tasks as needed
