Job summary

UAB Medicine's Cooper Green clinic seeks an entry-level nursing assistant to support patient care across departments. You will collect vitals, assist with procedures, and maintain clean exam rooms under supervision, ensuring patient comfort and safety.

Responsibilities include documenting health history in the EHR, delivering medications as ordered, and coordinating with nurses and providers. This on-site role requires lifting up to 50 lbs and a current CPR/BLS certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and CCMA Certification from the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) or (AAMA) is required.
• Two (2) years of clinical experience preferred. Work experience may NOT substitute for education/certification requirement.
• Current CPR/BLS certification via the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• This role may require lifting up to 50 lbs.
• The work location for this role is onsite.

Responsibilities

• Assists in providing nursing care and stocks exam rooms per provider orders.
• Takes and records patient vitals and performs point-of-care tests.
• Interviews patients, documents health history and medications in EHR.
• Delivers medications as ordered and instructs patients as required.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and coordinates communications via EHR.
