Lake Superior Consulting seeks an entry-level CAD Technician to join the electrical drafting and design team in Omaha, NE. This role offers hybrid work, collaboration with engineers, and hands-on skill-building opportunities for a developing professional.

You’ll assist with CAD drawings, document control, and revisions while learning industry standards and software. Ideal for an early-career candidate with basic AutoCAD knowledge and attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Drafting and Design, Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
• Entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply – no prior professional experience.
• Basic to moderate knowledge of AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of Civil 3D, Plant 3D, or CADWorx is a plus.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Strong mathematical skills and ability to perform basic calculations.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate work.
• Ability to learn new skills and software quickly.
• Willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers and designers with preparation and modification of CAD drawings and construction documents.
• Create plans, layouts, assembly drawings, detail drawings, sketches, and other design documents as directed by engineers.
• Receive and incorporate basic redline markups and revisions to drawings.
• Revise existing drawings and update to reflect as-built conditions.
• Support development of bidding and construction documents for clients.
• Apply current industry standards and drafting practices when creating and modifying drawings.
• Maintain drawing archives, document organization, and revision histories.
• Perform basic mathematical calculations related to drafting and design work.
• Communicate effectively with engineers, designers, and team members to meet deadlines.
• Learn and apply new software, drafting standards, and skills as you grow in the role.
• Follow established procedures and receive mentorship from experienced team members.
