Job summary

The Jackson Laboratory seeks a Building Trades Technician I in Bar Harbor to maintain and repair building envelope and interior systems in a highly regulated environment supporting data centers, labs, and animal facilities. Training is provided with progression through tasks under supervision.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting carpentry, masonry, painting and related systems; documenting activities in CMMS and supporting on-call emergencies 24/7. Occasional travel to other sites may occur.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of building envelope and interior systems.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Willingness to learn and apply new technical skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic troubleshooting, installation, and repair of carpentry, masonry, painting, siding, flooring, windows, doors, drywall, and related systems under close supervision.
• Support project planning and coordination with contractors and engineers.
• Document maintenance activities and generate reports using CMMS.
• Participate in rotating on-call schedule and respond to on-campus emergencies within one hour, 24/7.
• Perform other duties, including shift work at nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Travel occasionally to support maintenance activities at other sites.
