Job summary

Nexstar Media Group is seeking an entry-level Engineer to install, test, update, repair and maintain hardware and systems for broadcasting and business operations in the Charleston, SC area. The role emphasizes IT and broadcast crossover with a focus on reliability and timely problem resolution.

Qualified candidates should have IT or broadcasting education and some hands-on experience with digital electronics, network infrastructure and multimedia production tools.

Qualifications

• Degree in Information Technology or Broadcasting, or a combination of education and work-related experience equivalent
• Minimum two years’ experience with digital electronics in a television broadcasting environment
• Experience evaluating, installing, maintaining and repairing broadcasting industry equipment (Audio, Video and AC power systems) and information technology systems
• Experience with Network Administration, configuration and data security implementation with Cisco, HP and Juniper hardware
• Advanced experience with Microsoft Office applications and Operating Systems
• Experience with the Adobe Suite of products for video and graphics production
• Experience with Mac & iOS products
• Experience with fiberoptic systems, audio and video routing and patching
• Working experience with audio equipment, graphics systems and editing systems; experience with Ross Production Equipment/Automation strongly desired
• Experience with digital transmitters, microwave transmitters and receivers
• Proficiency/troubleshooting experience with desktop, laptop and tablet computers
• Detail oriented, with strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to handle multiple projects/issues simultaneously and meet deadlines
• Ability to build rapport with end-users and vendors to efficiently address issues
• Excellent oral and written communication skills – fluency in English

Responsibilities

• Minimizes system/service interruptions due to equipment failure or other cause by rapidly identifying and addressing the cause of the interruption
• Works closely with the Chief Engineer in installing, maintaining and documenting the IT network: workstations, servers, switches, wireless data and printers
• Performs other duties as assigned, be able to work extended hours as needed, including various shifts at times. Must be able to lift 35 lbs. and safely climb ladders
