Job summary

State of Hawaii, Department of Human Resources Development, seeks an Eligibility Worker I trainee for the Benefit, Employment and Support Services Division in Kona and Captain Cook. The role requires completing the training program, meeting legal work authorization, and possessing basic reading and math skills. In-person testing may be required in Hawaii.

Qualifications

• Three years of work experience involving public contact, providing information, answering questions and explaining policies.
• Ability to read, comprehend and apply written directions and perform basic mathematical computations.
• Experience using a computer to retrieve and enter data.
• Successful substitution of 30 college credit hours for General Experience on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Receive training in the philosophy, goals, and procedures of public assistance programs.
• Determine eligibility for public assistance on selected cases.
• Explain policies and regulations to applicants and recipients.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
