Entry Level Behavior Technician

Department: ABA - Behavioral Support

Employment Type: Part Time

Location: LA Mid-City, CA

Compensation: $22.00 - $28.00 / hour

Join Our Team as a Behavior Technician!

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities? Do you have a knack for fostering positive behavior and creating a supportive learning environment? Holding Hands Inc. is seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as a Behavior Technician.

Schedule: In clinic and in home

  • Sessions are primarily 2 - 3 hours each and take place in the clients’ homes, community, or at one of our clinics.
    • Sessions may be a 20 mile or 30 minute commute.
  • Appointment based scheduling with an average of 15 - 25 hours per week minimum.

A Day in the life of a Behavior Technician
  • Use a model of therapy referred to as Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Trained in evidence-based Applied Behavior Analysis principles and provide behavioral support for students requiring 1:1 care.
  • Offer personalized support to our clients in their home, school, or one of our beautiful clinics.
  • Our Behavior Technicians collaborate with our clinical team to implement an intervention plan catered to the individual’s specific needs, while collecting observational data and session notes.
  • ABA looks to reduce target behaviors and help clients develop new skills and more functional behaviors to foster the individual’s independence. Rest assured; comprehensive training will equip you with our most effective strategies.
  • Foster your clients' growth and support them in achieving their goals and potential.
  • Always acknowledge and celebrate their advancements throughout the journey!
  • Effective ABA intervention is not a “one size fits all” approach and should never be viewed as a “canned” set of programs or drills. On the contrary, our multi-disciplinary team customizes the intervention to each learner’s skills, needs, interests, developmental profile, preferences, and setting.

Qualifications - What you bring to the table

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 6 months of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities (paid or unpaid).
  • Must be able to lift at least 10 pounds, sit, and run as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable source of transportation, and active auto insurance.
  • Must be comfortable commuting 20 miles or 30 minutes to client sessions.
  • Passion for working with children, youth, and young adults with developmental disabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor's degree.
  • ABA experience or RBT Certified.
  • CPR certification in both pediatrics and adults.
  • Experienced and comfortable managing a wide variety of maladaptive behaviors, ranging anywhere from non-compliance, elopement, verbal and physical aggression, self-injurious behaviors, etc.
