Job summary

First Solar seeks an entry level Automation Technician to support manufacturing operations, assist with equipment implementation and startup, PLC/HMI programming, and troubleshooting of control systems. The role is assigned to a manufacturing site with a rotating 36/48 hour schedule, AM or PM shift, and a work week that includes every other Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Ideal candidates have 2 years of controls experience or 5+ years with no degree, plus coursework in

Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of manufacturing equipment electrical/electronic/controls experience.
Associate/Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Robotics, Industrial Controls, or Electronic Engineering (preferred)
No Degree - Must have 5+ years verifiable experience in related field (semiconductors, automotive, etc.).
Ability to read electrical/mechanical drawings and interpret data to troubleshoot.

Responsibilities

Support manufacturing facilities, including remote support of global sites.
Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical control systems for manufacturing equipment.
Assist with equipment installation and MES integration events.
Maintain and update manufacturing process tool electrical drawings.
Implement software changes requested by Controls Engineering.
Identify and pursue continuous improvement projects.
Collaborate with multiple departments to enable project success.
Ensure safety procedures and housekeeping standards are followed.
