Job summary

Sun Auto Tire & Service in Virden, IL is seeking a Lube and Tire Technician for a full-time, entry-level role. You’ll perform oil changes, tire services, basic maintenance, and Digital Vehicle Inspections while learning from experienced technicians and service staff.

You’ll help keep the shop clean and organized, assist with inspections, and build foundational skills for a long-term automotive career, with opportunities for growth into more advanced technician roles.

Qualifications

• Strong interest or desire to work in the automotive repair industry.
• Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn basic automotive maintenance and repair processes.
• Ability to follow written procedures, safety standards, and store processes.
• Ability to work collaboratively with technicians, service advisors, and store leaders.
• Valid driver’s license and successful completion of a Motor Vehicle Records check.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends as needed.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

• Perform tire services, including mounting, dismounting, balancing, and rotations.
• Perform oil changes and basic maintenance, including fluids, wipers, bulbs, batteries, and air and cabin filters.
• Complete Digital Vehicle Inspections and repair order documentation accurately and thoroughly.
• Identify safety-related issues and communicate findings through the proper store channels.
• Conduct State Safety and Emission Inspections, where applicable, in an ethical manner and in line with all company and state guidelines under appropriate supervision.
• Keep customer vehicles, the shop, service area, showroom, restrooms, and outside areas clean and customer-ready.
• Transport customers and pick up parts, tires, and supplies using company or customer vehicles as directed.
• Follow all safety procedures, use required PPE, comply with environmental and hazardous waste requirements, and report hazards or unsafe equipment to your supervisor.
• Work collaboratively with technicians and service advisors, accept coaching, and participate in ongoing training and development.
• Work a flexible schedule, including weekends as needed, and complete other duties as assigned.
