Job summary

BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina is hiring an Accountant I for its Palmetto GBA team in Columbia, SC. The role focuses on journal entries, reconciliations, general ledger maintenance, and supporting financial reporting.

You will work a standard 8-hour day, 40-hour week, with responsibilities spanning monthly closings, variance analysis, and collaboration with team members to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting with 24 semester hours in accounting (or 21 if hired before Aug 1, 2008).
• Solid understanding of fundamental accounting concepts and practices.
• Ability to work independently and handle confidential information with discretion.

Responsibilities

• Reconciles assigned accounts and processes general ledger entries.
• Prepares and analyzes daily, monthly, and yearly financial data and reports.
• Assists with regulatory filings and internal reporting as required.
• Supports monthly closings and reconciliations of balance sheet accounts.
