Under the general guidance and leadership of the Chief of Police, the City of Panama City is seeking an entry-level telecommunication trainee. The role is highly responsible, focusing on processing citizen requests for emergency and non-emergency responses for the Panama City Police Department and after-hours Utilities Department.

This position prepares for promotion to a 911 Telecommunicator upon training completion and Florida certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Typing 25 CWPM required.
• Ability to learn and operate radios and Windows-based programs like DAVID, EAGENT, RMS.
• Effective communication with all levels of society.

Responsabilités

• Process emergency and non-emergency requests for police and after-hours utility personnel.
• Operate computer systems to process information and relay to responders.
• Maintain status of assigned personnel including location and equipment.
• Coordinate movement of personnel and equipment to provide city services.
• Operate communications equipment including radios, telephones, data recording devices, TTY, and CAD.
• Use logic and sound judgment to assess service needs.
