Job summary

Leidos seeks an Entry Avionics Test Engineer in Huntsville, AL, to lead a team of test engineers and manufacturing technologists. You will drive agile and digital engineering practices, mentor staff, and manage testing strategies, schedules, and customer interactions.

You will oversee test operations, implement standards, coordinate with subcontractors, and contribute to program success while maintaining hands-on involvement with test system development.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited bachelor degree in Electrical/Computer/Manufacturing Engineering or related field.
• 2+ years in test engineering, manufacturing, or production test environments (or Master's).
• Proven ability to manage technical teams and foster professional development.
• Understanding of production test methodologies, equipment, and validation processes.
• Experience developing and implementing departmental procedures and standards.
• Strong stakeholder management and customer interaction skills.
• Excellent communication; able to present technical information to diverse audiences.
• Willingness to work full-time at Huntsville, AL with up to 25% travel.
• U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Direct and develop a team of test engineers and manufacturing technologists with mentoring and performance management.
• Develop and implement departmental standards and best practices for test operations.
• Review and approve testing methods; specify tests and recommend changes to equipment.
• Drive Agile methodologies and digital engineering practices using JIRA and Confluence.
• Maintain Integrated Master Schedule in Microsoft Project with scheduling team input.
• Serve as primary customer interface for requirements, progress updates, and expectations.
• Lead design reviews, customer meetings, and technical interchange sessions with stakeholders.
• Prioritize schedules and allocate resources according to timelines and milestones.
• Leverage cross-functional resources and manage outsourcing to optimize cost-effectiveness.
• Identify team strengths/weaknesses and balance growth with partnerships.
• Assist in evaluation and purchasing decisions for test equipment.
• Remain technically proficient with hands-on involvement in test system development.
