Grand Rapids Public Schools Buchanan Elementary School (PreK-5) in Grand Rapids, Michigan is seeking an LOOPS Activity Leader for after-school programs. The role supports the Site Coordinator with planning and implementing daily activities, potentially early morning duties, and requires face-to-face leadership in the LOOP program.

The position is grant-funded and non-tenured, contingent on continued funding; starting date to be determined.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1-year childcare or youth-related experience; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Complete MiLEAP (PA116) mandated requirements including Comprehensive Childcare Background Check (CCBC) and CCBC eligibility to work in a licensed childcare facility.
• Complete MiRegistry Health and Safety Online Modules A, B, C and Transportation or annual Health and Safety Refresher Course; submit learning record transcript.
• Module A must be completed before working with scholars.
• Obtain First Aid Certification and CPR by MiLEAP approved agencies; submit ARC/AHA certificate/card.
• Valid state issued ID.
• Fingerprinting required by hiring agency.
• Child Abuse/Neglect Central Registry Check.
• Ability to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles.
• Ability and desire to work with elementary and/or middle school children.
• Working knowledge of computers.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and leading daily lesson plans.
• Participate and assist in daily classroom activities.
• Provide weekly lesson plans to the Site Coordinator.
• Provide each participant’s parent with information on individual activities daily.
