Job summary

USA TODAY is seeking an innovative Audience Editor to lead audience engagement for our Entertainment coverage. You will guide growth, engagement and revenue across social, newsletters, search and emerging platforms, leveraging data-driven insights.

As a key member of the audience team, you will manage a small content-creator group, collaborate with newsroom leaders, and translate strategy into actionable steps that reach audiences across movies, music, TV and culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in communications, journalism, marketing or related field preferred.
• At least 5 years of newsroom experience, including management, preferably in an audience development role at a digitally-focused media organization with expertise in entertainment.
• Proven passion for storytelling via social media, search and newsletters with experience on platforms like Reddit, Discord, WhatsApp, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, Facebook, Threads.
• Ability to translate analytics into actionable newsroom strategies and partner with cross-functional teams.
• Strong leadership, collaboration and time-management skills, with a proactive approach.

Responsibilities

• Develop strategies, workflows and best practices to rapidly grow audience across search, social and newsletters.
• Monitor analytics and translate data into action steps for journalists and teams.
• Lead audience planning for events, tentpoles and breaking news, shaping packaging and distribution.
• Create or optimize audience-focused content during major events when needed.
• Collaborate with monetization teams to grow audience on social channels and distributed platforms.
• Manage a team of content creators ensuring brand voice and execution across channels.
• Create and monitor KPI progress for loyalty, engagement and relevance.
• Lead with innovative ideas and adapt to a rapidly changing audience landscape.
