Pacer Group is seeking a Wi‑Fi Design Architect to lead the global enterprise wireless architecture and engineering strategy from Columbus, OH. The role focuses on defining target-state wireless architecture, assessing current deployments for debt and gaps, and driving governance and skills uplift across delivery teams.

The position reports to the Director of Network Engineering and requires a deep specialty in Wi‑Fi 6E/7, security integration, and documentation of high/low level designs.

Responsibilities

• Define target-state wireless architecture covering RF design principles, WLAN topology, cloud/controller models, and security integration.
• Assess current-state network to identify debt, risks, gaps, and regional variations.
• Recommend strategic directions including Wi‑Fi 6E/7 adoption, lifecycle refreshes, and IoT/guest segmentation.
• Author architecture documentation: HLD, LLD, reference architectures, decision records, and standards deliverables.
• Establish governance models for standards adoption and uplift wireless engineering capabilities.

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a Wi‑Fi Design Architect with 12+ years of experience to lead the global enterprise wireless architecture and engineering strategy for the client. In this role, you will report directly to the Director of Network Engineering and solve critical challenges related to technical debt, regional inconsistencies, and wireless estate optimization. You will define the target‑state wireless architecture, complete a comprehensive standards assessment, and drive team skills uplift to establish sustainable network governance.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Define target‑state wireless architecture covering RF design principles, WLAN topology, cloud/controller management models, and security integration on a daily basis.
• Conduct deep‑dive assessments of current‑state network architecture to identify technical debt, security risks, gaps, and regional variations.
• Recommend strategic technology directions, including Wi‑Fi 6E/7 adoption, vendor and platform lifecycle refreshes, and IoT/guest segmentation.
• Author robust architecture documentation, including High‑Level Design (HLD), Low‑Level Design (LLD), reference architectures, decision records, and Phase 2 standards assessment deliverables.
• Establish governance models for standards adoption and deliver structured skills uplift to help delivery teams build long‑term wireless engineering capabilities.
