Job summary

Perdue Transportation Incorporated (PTI) seeks a Director of Transportation to lead enterprise fleet operations, private fleets, and inbound/outbound logistics for Perdue Foods. You’ll shape long-term transport strategy, govern safety and compliance, optimize multi-million-dollar budgets, and drive asset utilization across regional terminals and plants.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain or related field.
• 8-12 years in fleet/transportation or supply chain roles.
• 6-8 years in executive/senior leadership roles.
• Industry experience in agriculture/food distribution or live-haul.
• Deep knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations.
• Strong P&L and financial planning experience.
• Familiarity with enterprise TMS and telematics systems.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Safety Leadership across regional terminals, vendors, and plants.
• Regulatory/Policy Oversight for enterprise compliance with DOT/FMCSA/OSHA.
• Lead high-level risk, investigations, and action plans.
• Set biosecurity and animal welfare policies for live-haul operations.
• Direct multi-site fleet operations for finished goods and farms.
• Oversee talent acquisition, leadership development and retention.
• Oversee fleet assets, equipment portfolios and driver ratios.
• Visit terminals and plants to audit safety culture with execs.
• Manage P&L, route optimization, and fuel management for cost savings.
• Own annual budget, KPIs, and financial forecasting with executives.
• Justify multi-million CapEx for fleet and facility upgrades.
• Drive SOPs, automation, and continuous improvement across network.
• Engage with executive leadership and major customers/vendors.
• Align long-term strategy with data analytics and cross-functional projects.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain or similar

8-12 years of fleet operations/transportation/logistics experience

6-8 years in executive/senior management roles

Industry experience in agriculture/food/beverage or livestock Live-haul

DOT/FMCSA regulatory mastery

Financial & P&L acumen

Experience with enterprise TMS and telematics
