Job description

Overview

The Aerospace Corporation is a federally funded research and development center that supports U.S. space programs. As an Enterprise Systems Engineer in the Global Mission Operations (GMO) department, you will integrate and evaluate national security space architectures to unlock mission gains for the Space Force.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Collaborate with mission and capability teams across SSIO, field and combatant commands, and other military branches to define the architecture of enterprise space‑based sensing and targeting systems and characterize mission demands.
  • Lead the evaluation of architecture performance and capability under various mission scenarios and external environments.
  • Identify risks, gaps, and opportunities that improve enterprise performance and advocate their implementation through enterprise requirements and policies.
  • Serve as a technical point‑of‑contact and mentor for theater‑focused space‑based sensing and targeting capabilities with government acquirers and end users.
  • Organize problems, funding, and products that anticipate future government needs and help build Aerospace’s technical base.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, mathematics, or an equivalent technical field.
  • Eight or more years of progressively responsible engineering and technical experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to maintain effective working relationships with contractors, industry professionals, government customers, and technical staff.
  • Experience collaborating with U.S. government counterparts and advising senior leaders through presentations and decision‑making processes.
  • Experience in large‑scale space systems engineering, acquisition, architecture, and integration for multi‑domain or joint mission architectures.
  • Strong initiative, persistence, and self‑management in dynamic or ambiguous environments.
  • Willingness to travel domestically/internationally approximately 25% of the time.
  • Current TS/SCI security clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearances; U.S. citizenship required.
  • For Senior Project Engineer roles: Ten or more years of relevant engineering experience and proven leadership of multi‑disciplinary systems engineering activities for space systems, acquisition and operational experience with Space Systems Command mission areas including SATCOM, Space Sensing, ISRT, and/or Combat Power.

  • Prior work with SPACECOM, NSDC, SWAC, the Space Development Agency, or U.S. government space mission partners.
  • Experience with system requirements development and commercial SATCOM efforts.
  • Current SAP access.
