Job summary

Erias Ventures, LLC. seeks a Systems Administrator to support IT systems across UNIX and Windows environments in a demanding federal contracting context.

Qualifications

• Ten years experience as a System Administrator in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Five (5) years of additional SA experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
• Top-Secret/SCI with polygraph security clearance is required. Candidates cannot be sponsored or nominated for a government security clearance under this position.

Responsibilities

• Provide Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) problem identification, diagnosis and resolution of problems
• Configure and manage UNIX and Windows operating systems and install/loads operating system software
• Troubleshoot, maintain integrity and configure network components to improve reliability and performance
• Provide support for day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution for client/server/storage/network devices
• Assist users in accessing and using IT systems
• Optimize system operations and resource utilization, and perform capacity planning
• Provide detailed analysis and feedback to agency management and internal customers for escalated tickets
• Manage the dispatch system and hardware problems and remain involved in resolution processes

Description

We are seeking a Systems Administrator who provides support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of Information Technology (IT) systems. Manages IT system infrastructure and any processes related to these systems. Provides support to IT systems including day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution for all of the client/server/storage/network devices, mobile devices, etc. Provides Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) problem identification, diagnosis and resolution of problems. Provides support for the escalation and communication of status to agency management and internal customers. Provides support for the dispatch system and hardware problems and remains involved in the resolution process. Configures and manages UNIX and Windows operating systems and installs/loads operating system software, troubleshoots, maintains integrity and configures network components along with implementing operating systems enhancements to improve reliability and performance.

Clearance

A current Top-Secret/SCI with polygraph security clearance is required. Candidates cannot be sponsored or nominated for a government security clearance under this position.

Experience

Ten (10) years experience as a System Administrator (SA) in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required. Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Five (5) years of additional SA experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.

Required Skills

• Strong Linux background
• Linux Troubleshooting skills (tailing log files, restarting services)
• Fiercely independent, self-starter, good at taking tasks and running them to ground until hitting actual roadblocks
• Comfortable navigating in a terminal, running Linux commands
• Comfortable SSHing to servers, port forwarding/SSH tunneling
• Experience in supporting systems over high latency, low bandwidth, air-gapped environments
• Basic experience with Kubernetes
• Experience with network devices (firewalls, routers, switches)

Desired Skills

• Basic experience using/troubleshooting ansible playbooks/roles
• Basic understanding of system provisioning technologies
• Basic Scripting experience (not language specific)
• Basic experience administering/supporting Virtual Machine (VM) environments
• Basic experience working with Linux central authentication technologies
