Job summary

Mass General Brigham Incorporated seeks an Enterprise Program Director, Patient Safety to lead system-wide safety initiatives. This role partners with executives and clinical leaders to embed safety into care delivery and drive risk management at scale.

The successful candidate will combine clinical insight with safety science, leading improvement programs, regulatory alignment, and organizational learning across hospitals and ambulatory systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; related field.
• 5+ years in patient safety, risk management, quality improvement, or related healthcare discipline.
• 5+ years of clinical experience.
• Experience with healthcare regulatory and reporting requirements.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Experience in academic medical center or large health system preferred.
• Expertise in patient safety methodologies, event analysis, root cause analysis, and performance improvement.
• Knowledge of Joint Commission standards and other regulatory requirements preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a strategic thought partner to the Vice President of Patient Safety and senior leaders across the organization.
• Drive the execution and continuous evolution of enterprise-wide patient safety and risk management initiatives.
• Identify emerging risks and translate data into actionable improvement strategies.
• Advance a proactive culture of safety by promoting transparency, learning, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Partner with clinical and operational teams to standardize best practices across the system.
• Guide critical event reviews and organizational learning efforts that help prevent future harm.
• Influence system-wide approaches to safety event reporting, trend analysis, and regulatory compliance.
• Support leaders in achieving key patient safety, accreditation, and regulatory goals.
• Mentor and lead patient safety and risk management professionals while fostering collaboration and professional growth.
• Help shape both short-term priorities and long-term strategic objectives for patient safety across Mass General Brigham.

• Preferred: Master’s degree in a related field.
• Preferred: Experience within an academic medical center, large health system, or similarly complex healthcare environment.
• Preferred: Expertise in patient safety methodologies, event analysis, root cause analysis, and performance improvement.
• Preferred: Knowledge of Joint Commission standards and other healthcare accreditation and regulatory requirements.
