Job summary

Base-2 Solutions, LLC seeks a Data Storage Engineer to support the NDOC at the Intelligence Community Campus in Bethesda, MD. You will design scalable storage architectures across on‑prem and cloud, manage backups, DR, and lifecycle planning for multi‑petabyte environments.

The role requires DoD 8570.11 IAT Level II knowledge, TS/SCI clearance, and the ability to work independently in a 24/7 setting while mentoring junior team members.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience administering enterprise storage systems.
• Experience with Veritas Rubrik and storage backup solutions.
• PowerShell scripting experience for automation.
• Working knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems.
• Familiarity with DFS and NAS/SAN storage architectures.
• US Citizenship and active DoD clearance is required.
• Must meet DoD 8570.11 IAT Level II or higher.
• Ability to work independently in a 24/7/365 mission environment.

Responsibilities

• Design scalable storage architectures spanning on‑prem and cloud.
• Develop reference designs and roadmaps aligned with mission needs.
• Perform analyses for storage modernization and trade studies.
• Engineer lifecycle replacements balancing risk and cost.
• Create architecture diagrams, low‑level designs, and data mappings.
• Apply systems engineering to ensure performance and resilience.
• Analyze dependencies, risks, and mitigation strategies.
• Provide capacity forecasting and lifecycle planning dashboards.
• Support disaster recovery and data protection architectures.
• Install, configure, and administer Dell EMC, Quantum and Rubrik storage stacks.
• Manage SAN/NAS integrations with VMware ESX and vCenter.
• Configure and monitor backups, snapshots, and replication.
• Collaborate with server engineers for NFS/SMB exports and mounts.
• Lead continuous improvement and automation initiatives.
