Job summary

Xcel Energy seeks a Cloud Platform Architect to design and govern the enterprise cloud foundation supporting applications, analytics, and grid-adjacent systems. You will lead in GCP, AWS, and Azure, establishing standards and guardrails to enable rapid, secure delivery across hybrid and multi-cloud environments.

The role emphasizes security, reliability, and observability, with collaboration across IT, security, and operations. A strong foundation in cloud strategy and architecture is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Technology, Science, Business or related field or 4 years of experience equivalent.
• Seven years of related functional experience.
• Exposure to diverse systems, technologies and processing environments in a large corporate setting.
• Project solution architecture experience.
• Knowledge of core aspects of architecture (Software, Hardware, Network, Integration, Data, hosting models).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent communication skills across organizational levels.
• Excellent relationship management and collaboration to drive results.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and govern enterprise cloud foundations on GCP, AWS and Azure.
• Establish cloud standards, patterns and guardrails for quick and safe delivery.
• Ensure cloud platforms align with Architecture Tenets including security and observability.
• Enable workloads across cloud, on‑premises, and edge environments.
• Partner with security, infrastructure, operations and delivery teams for compliance and resiliency.
• Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance across the organization.
