Job summary

  • Ability to communicate with senior executive leadership on strategic matters.
  • Experience managing ITAM tools and generating presentation-quality reports.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of IT hardware identification and handling.
  • Physical ability to lift and handle IT equipment as part of inventory activities.
  • Experience with IT asset sanitization and disposal practices.
  • Strong organizational, time‑management, and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Must hold a Secret Clearance.
  • Must be able to report to the Ashburn, VA office up to 5 days per week.
  • Must pass the CBP Background Investigation before start.

Overview

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Cyber Security Directorate (CSD) Security Operations Center (SOC) is a U.S. Government program responsible for preventing, identifying, containing, and eradicating cyber threats to CBP networks. It monitors, detects, and protects CBP information systems—including LAN/WAN, commercial Internet connections, public-facing websites, wireless, mobile/cellular, cloud, security devices, servers, and workstations—to ensure the overall security of CBP enterprise-wide information systems.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Asset Inventory, Discovery, Classification, Prioritization and Lifecycle Management
    • Develop, implement, and maintain an accurate inventory of all hardware, software, services, and data assets.
    • Conduct continuous asset discovery on on‑premise and cloud‑based assets.
    • Document asset ownership, location, network connectivity, and interdependencies.
    • Apply a robust classification scheme based on criticality, sensitivity, business value, and potential impact.
    • Prioritize assets for security controls and resource allocation according to classification and risk profile.
  • Vulnerability, Configuration Management and Risk Management Integration
    • Map identified vulnerabilities to specific assets and track remediation.
    • Ensure secure configuration of assets, report deviations from security baselines and best practices.
    • Integrate asset management data into the Information Security Risk Management (ISRM) process.
  • Drive automation initiatives to improve the efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of asset management processes by evaluating tools for automated discovery, inventory, and configuration monitoring.
Basic Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with automated reporting from Microsoft Configuration Manager and network scan tools.
  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI.
  • Process development and integration with enterprise applications such as SharePoint and SQL Database Applications.
  • Familiarity with ITIL best practices for asset management.
  • Knowledge of FISMA, the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, and federal cybersecurity requirements.
Pay Range

Pay Range: $87,100.00 – $157,450.00. This range is a general guideline and may vary based on responsibilities, experience, skills, and other factors.
