Position Overview
Senior Enterprise Architect – Enterprise Data Architecture practice. Collaborates with data and technology stakeholders to execute PNC’s data strategy, establishing data architecture models, standards, and governance that enable data observability, interchangeability, integrity, confidentiality, and availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and communicate data strategy, guiding business and technology leaders to meet data technology needs.
- Create architecture artifacts that demonstrate progress against strategy and provide metrics for decision‑making.
- Develop data reference architectures, define consumption standards and patterns, and document data flows to optimize lineage and retention.
- Produce analysis and supporting artifacts for technology recommendations and architecture patterns that standardize data flows and integration.
- Lead development of data modeling standards, best practices, and guidelines; design entity and flow models for reporting, analytics, and modeling.
- Maintain comprehensive inventory of contextual, conceptual, logical, and physical data models, ensuring compliance with policies and validation checks.
- Oversee metadata, master data, and reference data management; design ontologies and semantic models supporting data mesh, virtualization, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with enterprise and solution architects to implement data observability capabilities and align solution architectures with data standards.
- Champion semantic layers that drive remediation best practices, provide thought leadership, and mentor teams on complex data strategies.
- Measure progress against objectives, enforce best practices, define auditability and traceability standards, and govern enterprise standards for ontology modeling and naming conventions.
- Act as the principal authority for metadata standards, collaborating with Data Owners/Stewards.

- Data lifecycle management, integration patterns, metadata, lineage, and data quality concepts.

- Knowledge of master and reference data concepts.
- Ability to influence decisions without direct authority.
Qualifications
- TOGAF certification or equivalent enterprise architecture experience.
- Experience in large, complex enterprise environments.
- Familiarity with both operational and analytical data platforms.
- Hands‑on execution of Data Architecture within a TOGAF or similar framework.
- Strong understanding of baseline/target architecture, gap analysis, and transition planning.
- Experience in formal architecture governance processes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to translate business needs into data architecture outcomes.
Experience
8+ years in enterprise data architecture and related disciplines. Must hold a university or college degree; advanced degrees (Master’s, PhD) or equivalent certifications and experience are desirable. Military service may be considered as part of the qualification package.
Education
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree or PhD preferred.
Compensation
Base salary range: $80,000.00 – $185,150.00. Incentive compensation based on company, business, and performance metrics.
