Westerville, Ohio client seeking a strategic and technically accomplished Enterprise Architect to serve as the senior architectural authority across the GDPO organization, defining and governing the enterprise technology blueprint that aligns business strategy with IT execution across all digital platforms and engineering functions. This individual contributor role in a lead capacity is responsible for establishing and maintaining the enterprise architecture across four core domains — business architecture, application architecture, data architecture, and technology architecture — ensuring that the digital ecosystem operates as a coherent, scalable, and future-ready platform.
Essential Functions
- The Enterprise Architect will provide architectural oversight across the portfolio of enterprise platforms and will serve as the architectural bridge between executive leadership and technical teams.
- This role operates within the Digital organization and plays a foundational role in advancing the client's Operational Excellence and Customer Focus & Innovation strategic priorities by ensuring that technology investments, integration patterns, AI capabilities, and platform decisions are architecturally sound, strategically aligned, and capable of scaling across the enterprise.
- As the enterprise's chief architectural voice, this role requires both strategic vision and hands‑on technical depth — translating business objectives, digital transformation initiatives, and emerging technology opportunities into actionable architecture roadmaps, reference architectures, and governance frameworks that guide all downstream engineering decisions.
- The Enterprise Architect will define and enforce technology standards, design patterns, and architectural guardrails across the organization, while maintaining deep awareness of GPDO's modern front-end tooling ecosystem — including JavaScript (JSX), React 19, Tailwind CSS 3, shadcn/ui, and Lucide React — built on React Context + hooks for state management, Craco for build tooling, and Yarn as the package manager.
- This role will champion the adoption of enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF and ArchiMate, evaluate and guide the strategic integration of Generative AI, Large Language Models, and AI-driven automation into the enterprise technology landscape, and partner with AI architects, integration engineers, data architects, platform engineers, and business leadership to ensure the client's architecture is resilient, secure, governed, and positioned for long-term competitive advantage.
- This position is based on site in Westerville, OH headquarters, with occasional domestic and international travel as needed.
Additional Key Responsibilities
- Enterprise Architecture Strategy & Roadmap: Define and maintain enterprise architecture strategy and technology roadmap across business, application, data, and technology architecture domains, ensuring alignment between business objectives, digital transformation initiatives, and IT execution priorities, and providing executive leadership with clear architectural direction for technology investment decisions.
- Architecture Governance & Standards: Establish and enforce enterprise-wide architecture standards, design patterns, technology policies, and architectural guardrails — including reference architectures, technology selection criteria, and integration patterns — ensuring all digital platforms, applications, and engineering initiatives conform to a coherent, scalable, and secure architectural vision.
- Platform & Application Architecture Oversight: Provide architectural oversight across the portfolio of enterprise platforms — including Compass AI, Writer, UiPath, Power Automate, SiteScope, Workato, Cursor, and other critical applications — evaluating platform fitness, integration dependencies, and technical debt, and guiding platform rationalization and modernization decisions.
- AI & Emerging Technology Architecture: Guide the strategic integration of Generative AI, Large Language Models (OpenAI GPT-4, Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini, Meta Llama 3), AI frameworks (LangChain, Llama Index), and AI-driven automation into the enterprise architecture, defining architectural patterns for AI adoption including retrieval augmented generation (RAG), multi-agent systems, and agentic workflows.
- Front-End & GPDO Architecture Alignment: Ensure enterprise architecture standards are aligned with and supportive of GPDO's modern front-end tooling ecosystem — JavaScript (JSX), React 19, React Router 7, Tailwind CSS 3, shadcn/ui components, and Lucide React — providing architectural guidance on component reuse, state management patterns (React Context + hooks), build tooling (Craco, Yarn), and front-end scalability across digital products.
- Data & Integration Architecture: Define and govern data architecture and integration architecture standards across the enterprise, including API design patterns, data flow models, master data architecture, iPaaS governance (Workato), and cloud infrastructure patterns (AWS), ensuring data integrity, interoperability, and compliance across all enterprise systems and data platforms including Snowflake.
- Security, Compliance & Risk Architecture: Embed security, compliance, and risk management considerations into all enterprise architecture decisions, including SOX-relevant controls, access management patterns, data governance standards, and auditability requirements, partnering with IT Security, Legal, Compliance, and audit stakeholders to ensure the architecture meets enterprise control expectations.
- Cross-Functional Leadership & Architecture Evangelism: Serve as the enterprise's senior architectural authority and trusted advisor to executive leadership, engineering teams, AI architects, integration engineers, and business stakeholders — facilitating architectural decision-making, resolving cross-domain technical trade-offs, mentoring technical staff, and evangelizing architecture best practices across the organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related field; Master's degree in Computer Science, Enterprise Architecture, Information Systems, or related field preferred; equivalent practical experience considered.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in enterprise architecture, solution architecture, or senior technical architecture roles within complex, multi-system enterprise environments
- 5+ years of experience defining and governing enterprise-wide architecture standards, technology roadmaps, and reference architectures
- Demonstrated experience leading architecture governance across multiple domains (business, application, data, technology); experience architecting solutions across cloud and on-premise hybrid environments
- Experience influencing technology strategy and investment decisions at the executive level
- Experience leading or managing architecture teams or architecture practices.
Technical Skills
- Deep expertise in enterprise architecture frameworks and methodologies (TOGAF, Zachman, ArchiMate, or equivalent)
- Strong knowledge of cloud architecture and services (AWS preferred, Azure familiar) including infrastructure-as-code, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and serverless patterns
- Proficiency in API architecture and integration patterns including REST, event-driven architecture, iPaaS platforms (Workato, MuleSoft, or equivalent), and microservices
- Working knowledge of Generative AI architectures and Large Language Models (GPT-4, Claude, Gemini, Llama 3) and AI frameworks (LangChain, Llama Index)
- Familiarity with modern front-end technologies including JavaScript (JSX), React 19, Tailwind CSS 3, and component-based UI architectures
