Our client in Westerville, OH is seeking a skilled and visionary AI Integration Engineer to serve as the technical lead for enterprise AI-powered integration across the organization's growing digital platforms ecosystem. This individual contributor role in a lead capacity is responsible for architecting, building, and maintaining scalable integration solutions using Workato as the primary iPaaS platform, while designing and delivering Generative AI architectures and LLM-powered automation workflows that connect the client's critical business applications — including Compass AI, Writer, UiPath, Power Automate, SiteScope, Cursor, and other enterprise tools.

Essential Functions:

• The AI Integration Engineer will operate within the Digital organization and play a central role in enabling the client's Operational Excellence, Customer Focus & Innovation, and High-Performance Culture strategic priorities by ensuring seamless, reliable, and governed data and process flows across the enterprise, augmented by AI capabilities that accelerate automation and reduce manual friction.
• As an individual contributor in a lead capacity, this role requires both deep technical hands‑on execution and the ability to architect and govern AI-augmented integration standards across teams and business functions.
• The AI Integration Engineer will integrate seamlessly with GPDO's modern front-end tooling ecosystem — including JavaScript (JSX), React 19, React Router 7, Tailwind CSS 3, shadcn/ui, and Lucide React — built on React Context + hooks for state management, Craco for build tooling, and Yarn as the package manager.
• This role champions the adoption of AI frameworks including LangChain, Llama Index, and agentic workflow patterns such as Workato Genie and Model Context Protocol (MCP), while evaluating and governing the broader AI integration landscape.
• This position partners closely with technology and business stakeholders, and is based onsite at the client's Westerville, OH headquarters.

Key Responsibilities

• 1. Lead Workato Platform Delivery & AI Automation: Design, build, and maintain Workato recipes, connectors, and AI-powered automation workflows — including Workato Genie and Model Context Protocol (MCP) integration patterns — that orchestrate business processes and enable real-time, intelligent data movement across enterprise SaaS and internal applications.
• 2. Generative AI Architecture & Integration: Architect and implement Generative AI solutions using advanced techniques such as retrieval augmented generation (RAG), transformer architectures, vectorization and embeddings, and multi-agent architectures, embedding AI capabilities directly into enterprise integration workflows to deliver measurable business impact.
• 3. Own API Architecture & AI API Governance: Define and govern API design standards, patterns, and best practices across the client's digital platform ecosystem, including AI-specific API patterns such as LLM endpoints, OAuth-secured AI services, and event-driven AI architecture, ensuring integrations are scalable, secure, observable, and recoverable.
• 4. Drive Cross-Platform Integration Strategy: Architect and implement end‑to‑end integration solutions connecting platforms such as Compass AI, Writer AI, UiPath, Power Automate, SiteScope, Cursor, and other approved enterprise tools, incorporating AI-powered decision layers and LLM‑driven transformation logic where applicable.
• 5. Front‑End AI Integration: Architect AI-powered features and interfaces within GPDO's modern front‑end ecosystem — JavaScript (JSX), React 19, React Router 7, Tailwind CSS 3, shadcn/ui components, and Lucide React — ensuring seamless integration between AI backends, Workato orchestration layers, and React Context + hooks‑based state management.
• 6. Establish Integration Governance & AI Standards: Define and enforce integration standards, AI tooling governance, documentation practices, error handling patterns, and monitoring and observability frameworks to ensure reliability, operational resilience, and compliance across all AI‑augmented integration solutions.
• 7. Evaluate and Onboard New AI & Integration Technologies: Assess emerging integration tools, AI platforms, and LLM frameworks; provide technical recommendations; and lead onboarding of new technologies — including tools such as OpenAI GPT‑4, Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini, Meta Llama 3, LangChain, and Llama Index — to fill capability gaps within the Digital organization.
• 8. Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Technical Leadership: Partner with IT Security, Digital, AI/ML, data scientists, software engineers, and business teams to translate operational requirements into executable AI integration architectures; conduct code assessments; provide technical mentorship; and serve as a trusted subject matter expert and escalation point for AI integration strategy and implementation.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field
• Master's degree or PhD in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or Data Science preferred
• Equivalent practical experience considered

Experience

• 5+ years of professional experience in software or systems integration engineering
• Demonstrated experience designing and implementing REST and/or SOAP API architectures in complex, multi‑system enterprise environments
• 3+ years of hands‑on experience with Workato or a comparable enterprise iPaaS platform (e.g., MuleSoft, Boomi, Informatica)
• Experience in Generative AI architectures and frameworks such as retrieval augmented generation, vectorization and embeddings, and multi‑agent architecture solutions
• Experience integrating SaaS platforms and enterprise applications across cloud and on‑premise environments
• Experience leading or contributing to AI projects or enterprise tooling rollouts

Technical Skills

• Deep proficiency with Workato (recipes, connectors, Workato Genie, and/or MCP integration patterns preferred)
• Strong knowledge of API design principles including REST, OAuth, webhooks, and event‑driven architecture
• Proficiency with Large Language Models (OpenAI GPT‑4, Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini, Meta Llama 3, or equivalent) and AI frameworks such as LangChain and Llama Index
• Proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language (Python, Ruby, JavaScript, or equivalent) for custom connector and transformation logic
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and familiarity with containers and CI/CD tooling
• Familiarity with enterprise platforms such as Salesforce, SAP, ServiceNow, Snowflake, or similar
• Familiarity with modern front‑end technologies including JavaScript (JSX), React 19, Tailwind CSS 3, shadcn/ui, and Lucide React
• Experience with build tooling (Craco, Yarn) and state management patterns (React Context + hooks)

Preferred Qualifications

• Workato Automation Pro or equivalent iPaaS certification
• Certification or training in artificial intelligence, machine learning, or data science
• Experience with AI‑driven automation and agentic workflow patterns (e.g., Workato Genie, Model Context Protocol)
• Familiarity with RPA tools such as UiPath or Power Automate
• Familiarity with shadcn/ui component libraries and Lucide React icon systems
• Knowledge of ethical considerations and responsible Generative AI practices
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and project management tools such as Jira
• Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, or Kafka
• Experience with Snowflake or enterprise data platforms
• Exposure to enterprise governance, SOX‑relevant controls, or compliance‑driven integration design
