Seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect to lead the design and evolution of omni-commerce, order management, inventory visibility, fulfillment, and supply chain capabilities. This role will drive architecture strategy across digital and operational platforms, ensuring seamless customer and fulfillment experiences across web, mobile, stores, and distribution channels. The ideal candidate brings deep Sterling OMS expertise, strong omni-commerce architecture experience, and a modern microservices mindset.
Responsibilities
- Lead architecture and solution design across browse, cart, checkout, OMS, inventory visibility, and omni-fulfillment initiatives.
- Define end-to-end architecture connecting web, mobile, stores, distribution centers, and supply chain systems.
- Guide the evolution of order orchestration, fulfillment optimization, distributed order management, and inventory availability capabilities.
- Create architecture standards, governance models, reference architectures, and reusable patterns.
- Review solution designs and provide hands-on technical leadership to engineering and support teams.
- Partner with Product, Engineering, Retail Operations, Supply Chain, Logistics, Store Operations, Data, Infrastructure, Security, and other architecture teams.
- Support vendor evaluations and technology selection activities, including RFI, RFP, and RFQ processes.
- Identify opportunities to improve cloud adoption, microservices, event-driven design, APIs, GraphQL, and AI-enabled commerce experiences.
Required Qualifications
- Deep, recent experience with IBM Sterling Commerce / Sterling OMS architecture.
- Strong omni-commerce and omni-fulfillment expertise spanning checkout, order management, inventory visibility, and fulfillment.
- Experience architecting capabilities such as:
- Buy Online, Pick Up In Store (BOPIS)
- Reserve Online, Pick Up In Store (ROPIS)
- Ship-from-Store
- Same-Day and Next-Day Delivery
- Endless Aisle
- Strong microservices architecture background, including API-first and event-driven design.
- Experience with order orchestration, distributed order management, inventory availability, and inventory visibility across stores, distribution centers, and digital channels.
- Ability to partner effectively with Product, Engineering, Supply Chain, Retail Operations, Logistics, Store Operations, and other business stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- GraphQL architecture and service experience.
- Experience applying AI or machine learning to commerce, personalization, fulfillment optimization, inventory intelligence, or operational efficiency.
- Cloud-native architecture experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP.
- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, API gateways, service mesh technologies, Kafka, or Event Hub.
- Experience with loyalty, customer engagement, digital marketing, or retail technology platforms.

This role will define and advance a scalable omni-commerce architecture that connects digital commerce, order management, inventory, stores, fulfillment, and supply chain capabilities. The architect will strengthen order orchestration and inventory visibility while establishing reusable architecture standards and patterns that support the organization's evolving omni-commerce roadmap.
Experience Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as an Enterprise Architect, Solution Architect, or Domain Architect/Lead.
- 10+ years of experience across Commerce, OMS, Inventory Management, Supply Chain Technology, Fulfillment, or Omni-Commerce Architecture.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- Relevant architecture and cloud certifications are a plus.
